I basically worked on my project alone. I much rather work alone that way I can think clearly without any loud noises and distractions from my loved ones.
The most difficult part about my writing process was trying to gather my thoughts and putting them on paper and making meaning of it. I over came this obstacle by using the technique that I learned in class, which is setting a timer on my phone and writing until the buzzer went off. That helped me get through my paper. I wrote my project soon as I got the assignments . That's always a good approach for me because I have enough time to go back and edit it and I also have enough time to turn it in by the deadline. My topic on this specific paper was Who benefited more in the relationship Cole or Malcolm. I said Cole because Malcolm help him get through plenty of obstacles such as overcoming his fears in having a more social life with his friends at school also bettering his relationship with his mother. Where as Malcolm did learn things from Cole such as realizing that he had died the night that he was shot. I plan on revising my paper for the for the future revision by going to the learning Commons and getting assistance. Sometimes when you write a paper you like what you have right and you think it's good but there's always room for more improvement so I won't be hard on myself about taking bits and pieces out to become better.

ENG 100 Assignment #3: Film-Based Assignment Due: Draft #1 posted to blog by 11:59 pm on 3/23/2017 Living A Normal Life In the _sixth_sense_, screenwriter M. Night Shyamalan shares the story of Cole--Sear a boy who claims to “see dead people”. Dr. Malcolm Crowe is a child psychologist who begins speaking to the little boy about these apparent interactions with ghosts. Cole is fearful and scared about being able to see dead people that no one else is able to see but him. He hasn't told his mom about being able to see and communicate with dead people. He is afraid to tell her because she may think something is wrong with him or that she doesn't believe him. So he starts talking to Malcolm who is easy to talk to and tells him his problems. Malcom on the other hand has been shot and doesn't even know he's dead and is a ghost as well. Cole has benefitted more out of having a relationship with Malcolm because, Malcom helped Cole Overcome his fears, also Cole was about to socialize with his peers and Cole had a better relationship with his mother. First, Cole was afraid to tell his mom about seeing dead people and how he sees and talks to her mother everyday. He didn't want his mom to think he was crazy or fearful that she wouldn't believe him. So while in traffic with his mom Cole sees the person who has been killed in the accident ahead and is standing right next to his car door window. He tells his mom that he sees dead people and she gets a little shaky but believes him once he tells her about an event her mother and only her would know about. She then embraces her son and loves on him. He even tells her that the lady that was in the accident ahead of them is dead standing next to him at that very moment. With malcom being there for Cole encouraging him and giving him advice it bring him closer to his mother. She also realizes that the ghosts are the reason he had bruises on him. Second, Malcolm helps Cole overcome his disorder of being able to see the dead by telling him “ to listen to the ghosts because they want him to help them”. So he takes the psychologist's advice and listens to the ghosts. On one particular occasion a little girl had been poisoned by her mother. With the advice that Malcolm, Cole listening and not being afraid he uncovers the mystery of the girls death. She told him to play the vcr which had been previously recorded and it shows the mother making her child sick rather than helping her feel better. The entire family and friends of the family watched in awe. Having learned to deal with seeing and hearing the dead actually turned out to be a good thing for the nine year old with the help of Malcolm. Third, Cole is able to socialize in school and kids aren't picking on him for being weird and not really interacting with them. He hid this from his mother by having a kid come to his house every morning pretending to walk to school together. But truthfully they parted ways down the block. But having malcom to talk to and ease his mind and help Cole become active. Even fitting in with the other kids at school and getting the lead role in the schools play. That made Cole very happy to be able to enjoy being a kid that sees ghosts. The doctor made it easy for Cole to be himself around him because he could see ghosts too. Malcolm also gave him the confidence to listen to them and Cole turns out to be a big help to the ghosts. Malcolm did discover that he was dead when Cole told him to talk to his wife while she was sleeping. But Cole benefited most from gaining this relationship with Malcolm. He got helped him get over his fears and made it easy for him to socialize in school because he was no longer afraid of the ghosts anymore with the help of Malcolm. Film Review
In the 1999 movie The Sixth Sense, this is a drama/thriller movie lasting for one hundred and ten minutes. Dr. Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis) and his wife Anna (Olivia Williams) comes home one night and there house is broken into by a patient who named Vincent Gray (Donnie Wahlberg) who is schizophrenic and blames the doctor for not helping him then shoots him in the stomach. A year later Dr.Malcolm the psychologist starts seeing a nine year old little boy named Cole Sear (Haley Joel Osment). Cole had been hallucinating all of his life saying “ I see dead people”. The boy was diagnosed with schizophrenia and a mood disorder. For ōosome time nobody wanted to work with the little boy. At first the doctor is skeptical about the little boy seeing dead people and all. But then believes him when heard a ghost in a previous recording he had with Vincent. But Cole reminds the doctor of the previous patient that he was seeing and they have some similarities but wasn't able to help the other Vincent, so he was eager to work with Cole since he wasn't able to help the other patient. The doctor in the gripping end realizes he had been killed when his patient Vincent shot him and then killing himself. He had been a ghost the whole time. I had seen this movie when it first came out years and years ago, and haven't seen it since. When I found out in class that we would be watching this film for our project I wasn't too happy. I used to like scary/thriller movies, but since i've grown up i'm petrified. I cant stand watching them and definitely can't be alone. But this was a good movie, had a crazy twist towards the end. |
